Year of the Dragon Sterling Silver Coin

The Chinese lunar calendar follows a twelve year cycle and
each year is associated with an animal. The twelve animals of the Chinese lunar calendar
are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
Chinese astrology attributes character traits to each animal, and people are said to share
the traits of the animals associated with the year in which they are born.
This $15 proof sterling silver
coin with a 24K gold overlay, celebrates the Chinese Lunar Year of the
Dragon.
The dragon is a powerful symbol,
and therefore the year 2000 is considered lucky.
The mintage of this coin is
limited to 88,888 pieces, and sold out at the Royal Canadian Mint within
weeks of its January - 2000 release.
